Call for Workshops

The 2027 IEEE International Conference on Big Data and Smart Computing (IEEE BigComp 2027) will be held on January 25–28, 2027 at Fukuoka International Congress Center, Fukuoka, Japan. BigComp provides an international forum for exchanging ideas and information on current studies, challenges, research results, system developments, and practical experiences in Big Data and Smart Computing.

IEEE BigComp 2027 invites proposals for highly interactive workshops that complement the main conference program. The workshop program currently includes one morning slot and three afternoon slots, with each slot planned as 1.5 hours. Workshop duration and scheduling can be adjusted flexibly in consultation with the organizers. Workshops should address themes and purposes that are appropriate to IEEE BigComp and relevant to Big Data and Smart Computing. We welcome proposals that provide clear motivation, a well-defined format, and a credible plan for attracting participants.

Workshop proposals will be reviewed based on the quality and clarity of the proposal, relevance and appropriateness to IEEE BigComp, timeliness of the topic, expected level of interest from the community, strength of the organizing team, soundness of the presenter and paper selection process, and feasibility within the conference venue and schedule. Workshop papers may be included in the IEEE BigComp workshop proceedings and indexed in the IEEE Digital Library (IEEE Xplore), together with the main conference proceedings. Whether workshop papers are included in the proceedings can be discussed and adjusted according to the workshop format. Workshop papers intended for proceedings publication should be prepared in the official IEEE conference paper format and limited to no more than 8 pages.

Workshop Proposal Preparation

Workshop proposals should be no more than 5 pages and should include the following information:

  1. The title of the workshop.
  2. The motivation for the workshop and its appropriateness to IEEE BigComp.
  3. The theme and purpose of the workshop.
  4. The format, planned activities, tentative schedule, and desired number of 1.5-hour slots.
  5. The selection process for presenters.
  6. The expected number of participants.
  7. A list of organizers, including affiliations, email addresses, and short biographical sketches describing relevant qualifications and experience.
  8. A list of program committee members, with an indication of which members have already agreed to serve.
  9. If the workshop has been held previously at IEEE BigComp or another conference, a brief description of past attendance, program highlights, and outcomes.
